Kismath Review: another Realistic Real Story.

Kismath Review: another Realistic Real Story.

‘Kismath’ is a Malayalam film written and directed by debutant Shanavas K Bavakkutty,  starring Shane Nigam and Sruthi in lead. the movie is based on a true event that happened in Ponnani Kerala. The cinematography is handled by Suresh Raj. The music department is handled by Sumesh Parameshwaran and Shamej Sreedharan. Kismath is produced by Rajeev Ravi and distributed by LJ Films.

Watch the teaser of Kismath:

Shane Nigam as Irfan.
Sruthi as Anitha.
Vinay Forrt as S.I Ajay C Menon
Alancier Lay Lopez as Syed Bava Thnagal
Sumangal,Sunil Sukhada, Binoy, Surabhi Lakshmi.

The story of ‘Kismath’ is based on a real story, set in the background of the social and cultural life of Ponnani. The friendship between B.Tech student Irfan (new face Shine Nigam, son of mimicry artist Aby) and research student Anitha (Sruthi Menon) and the lives around them set the plot of the film. The various incidents that take place in one day are narrated in ‘Kismath’. The movie is shot completely in Ponnani.

the On to the Technical side, Debutant director Shanavas K had made this movie in a very realistic way as it had happened in the real life. even though the direction was nice, the screenplay fails to satisfy the audience as it lags a lot towards the end. The cinematography was just okay but the heli-cam shots were really beautiful. Songs were good but the Background score of the movie was not up to the mark on some occasions.

the movie is only 103mins, the first half is fully shooted in a Police Station showing the problems faced by the lovers on behalf of the police. and the latter half deals with the much greater problems in their family, both of them had to face and followed by an unsatisfied end. the ending should have been made more reliable so that the audience could understand well. also, the director didn’t mention much about the deep love between the couples and also how they fall in love, etc…

On to the Performance, Shane Nigam as Irfan, a typical Ponnanni teenager, just lived as the character. he was really awesome.
Shruthy Menon as Anitha was just okay. Vinay Forrt as Sub Inspector Ajay C Menon performed well. he had great screen presence and the performance was also good. Alancier and Anand Bal performed As Irfan’s Father Syed Bava Thangal and Brother  Plaza Kaleel respectively.
Sunil Sukhada,Bengali Sumangal, Binoy, Surabhi Lakshmi supported well.

Bottom Line: A real story executed in a very realistic way. the trailer had made a huge hype and a lot of expectation on audiences.
PS: go and watch without much expectation.

  • The performance of Shane Nigam and Vinay Forrt.
  • Direction.
  • The performance of all the supporting Characters.

  • The lag-ness in the latter half.
  • Unsatisfied ending.

Verdict: An average movie
