Guppy Review: A feel good movie

Guppy is a Malayalam drama film written and directing by debutant Johnpaul George. The cinematography is handled by Girish Gangadharan and the Music is Composed by Vishnu Vijay. Tovino Thomas will play the lead role in the movie along with Master Chetan(doing the titular character Guppy) . The movie produced under the banner of E4 entertainment.

The story revolves around a boy named Micheal aka Guppy(Master Chethan) and his childhood experiences.
this young boy living in the seaside has a paralyzed mother to support. He earns by working in a local tea shop and also selling guppy fishes. The plot revolves around the events that happen after the arrival of a civil engineer Thejas Varkey(Tovino Thomas) to that place for the construction of a bridge. The changes that happen in the life of many people there get narrated in this movie.

On to the Technical side, Debutant John Paul George has really impressed the audience as both the writer and as a director. He used all the elements in the right proportions and also the style and pace of narration had been beautifully maintained according to the situations in the plot.

Girish Gangadharan had contributed many nice visuals that made the movie looks more beautiful. the movie is shot in the same location where Mariyam Mukku was shot. Some of the shots were really impressive that they made strong statements without any dialogues.

Music composed by Vishnu Vijay were nice especially the last one was simply superb, the background score was apt and soothing. Editing done by Dhilip Dennis were also okay. special mention for the Art department that it was quite catchy.
On to the Performance,

Master Chetan as the titular character Guppy done a neat and matured acting. he had really made a lot of dedication and hard work that we can feel it in many of the occasions, The moments he shared with his mother in the climax where he holds back his tears was too touching and was pictured well with good support from Chetan as well as Rohini who acted as the mother.

Tovino Thomas as Thejus Varkey done an impressive and fabulous job. the Character were demanding and Challenging at the same time as it had both style and substance. he had dual shades to showcase in the movie. from each movie he is fast improving and Surely, we can say that Tovino is a Rising star who has talent as well as a hardworking actor which will make him a reliable actor soon.

Sreenivasan as the orthodox and concerned Muslim man performs nicely with his limited screen presence. Dileesh Pothan and Sudheer Karamana were really good. Rohini as Guppy’s mother was so nice and she did a neat performance . Alenciar Lay, K L Antony, Devi, Nobi Ajith also supported well.

The Highlight of the movie was that each and every situations in the movie were really convincing and the dialogues were very realistic as well. As a director, he had done a great job executing this flick in a fabulous way. yet another asset for M-wood Industry.

in this 156 mins movie, the first half deals with the characterization of the titular character Guppy and the situation he has to face followed by a likely latter half with an unpredictable satisfied ending.
Guppy can be added in the list of best Movies released in the year so far.

Bottom Line: Guppy is a cute little movie, This movie has life in it which will make our heart filled with satisfaction that, the characters will remain in your minds even after leaving theaters.
