If you wanna watch a film with family in this Christmas, then ‘2 countries’ is the best answer.
Dileep-Shafi duo is back with a stunning comedy entertainer after super hit 2010 film ‘Marykkundoru Kunjaadu’. Apart from that Dileep-Mamtha pair team up again after block buster flick ‘My Boss’. The movie is penned by Rafi of Rafi-Mecartin duo. Two Countries is produced by Rejaputra Ranjith under the banner Rejaputra Visual Media.
2 countries is a perfect comeback for Shafi, the director, after a short hiatus. He has perfectly executed the well-written screenplay, and has used the talents in his star cast to the fullest. Rafi has made use of all possible comical situations with his script and the movie reminds the old classic comedies at certain points.
The plot of the film is Ullas (Dileep) is a carefree lazy young man, who makes the living by playing simple pranks at his hometown. He is eagerly waiting for a chance to migrate to a foreign country. He marries a Canada-based Malayali girl Laya (Mamta Mohandas), only to live in Canada. The incidents faced by Ullas and Laya forms the rest of the story.
Dileep is perfect as Ullas, and shines with his exceptional comical timing. Mamta, who plays Laya, was brilliant in comical situations. Dileep and Mamta’s onscreem chemistry is praiseworthy. In first half Aju, Vijaya Raghavan and Jagadeesh supported Dileep in the comic scenes and in the second half Suraj and Mukesh did the same. Jagadeesh got a good comedy character after a while. The rest of the cast, including Lena, Makhrand Deshpande, Rafi, Srinda, Vinaya Prasad, Isha Talwar, etc are good in their roles.
Santhana Krishnan, the cinematographer, scores by bringing the unexplored beauty of Canada into his frames. V Saajan, the editor and Joseph Nellickal, the art director, deserve special mentions. Gopi Sundar has composes the songs and background score and BK Harinarayanan has penned the lyrics. Nadhirshah has penned and composed one song. Gopi’s songs are not up to his usual perfection, while the background score is good. Nadhirshah’s song is just okay.
